Dean's Space

Well I decided to get a new computer and a Mac at that.  Unfortunately it does not seem to play well with Windows Live Spaces.  I was used to using Windows Live Writer to post things to this blog and now that I can't do that I find the web interface to add pictures and the like to my blog a bit cumbersome.  So I think I will retire this blog.  You will be able to find new pictures and books and possibly even notes on my Facebook account.  So look for me there.  When I get home and have access to high speed internet I may try using iWeb to create a whole new blog, at which point I will put a link to that blog here.  But besides that, I will not be posting to this blog anymore.

Yesterday when I got up it was actually cool outside! It felt remotely like fall.  I'm not sure, but I don't even think it broke 100 degrees all day, amazing.  It was the coolest day since February or March.  It just means that we're getting closer to coming home, I can't wait!  I was talking with Lora today and we were talking about Ranger School, which I will go to at the end of August or beginning of September next year.  She told me that I needed to make sure to go straight through without getting recycled so that I don't miss Hannah's birthday again.  Unfortunately I've missed her first two birthdays.  The first birthday I was at Fort Riley and the second I will be here.  Although I don't feel like I missed her first birthday because I was home for Thanksgiving and we celebrated her birthday when I was there, even though it was not her actual birthday.  But I will miss her second birthday.  With any luck though I will have started my journey back to the states when her birthday does come on Nov 30th. 

I love to hear the stories of the crazy things that Hannah does.  She has such a funny little personality and talks so much for such a tiny person.  She has been going to day care about 3 days a weeks since Lora has started working again.  She seems to be doing pretty well with the change.  She has started to take her "Daddy Doll" to school and carries it around everywhere.  And because people call her doll, daddy doll, the other day when I spoke to her on the phone she said, "Daddy?" in a tiny cute voice.  Which was the first time I'd heard her say it, before she'd just say, "Dada? Dada?"  But now she says both.  What a smart, cute and funny girl.  I can't wait to see her again, I'll be very happy. 

Well here is a picture of the crazy kittens that we have here.  They are quite crazy and cute, everyone likes them.

  Here I am with my Hoagie Haven T-shirt that my family sent me.  We are out in the middle of no where, I thought it would be more interesting if the picture was taken while out on mission and not just at the FOB.  Hopefully Hoagie Haven will keep the picture up for awhile, it's not everyday that someone in Afghanistan has a Hoagie Haven T-shirt on. 

Here I am avoiding sunburn.  The scarf is better than most sunscreen because you don't sweat it off.  But I do look like a Palestinian terrorist.

So Hannah and Lora are visiting my parents in NJ for a couple of weeks.  Here is Hannah girl trying to sing her ABC's.  She's the cutest thing ever!
